Paul KiesanowskiChief Financial Officer
Paul initially joined City Care in January 2014 in an acting role following an extensive career as a partner at KPMG, most latterly as the managing partner for the Christchurch office. After fulfilling this role for a period, Paul re-joined the company in July 2015 as the CFO. He is a qualified CA, and a member of the Australia and New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants. He has extensive experience in financial management, financial reporting, and risk management. Paul’s responsibilities include ensuring that financial systems, processes and controls are implemented and operating to ensure the company has the business information needed to operate effectively, and that the external reporting responsibilities are fulfilled. Paul also leads the Treasury, risk management, the company secretarial functions, and Information Technology, procurement and fleet. Paul has over 30 years financial management experience working with a number of major clients over a wide range of industries, and brings the benefit of that wide experience to the CFO role.
Tim Gibson was appointed as a Director and Chairman of Apex Environmental Ltd in July 2015. Tim started his career as a civil engineer and has progressed over time into corporate management roles within the industry. In addition to his civil engineering background, Tim holds a Master of Business Administration and has substantial experience in senior management roles in the contracting and infrastructure sectors. Tim is currently the Executive General Manager, National Maintenance at City Care and is responsible for building and strengthening City Care’s maintenance operations throughout New Zealand. Tim brings extensive leadership, contract management and infrastructure expertise to the Apex Board table.
Dr Steve Kroening is a founding Director of Apex Environmental, being involved since its inception in February 2009. Steve holds a PhD in Microbiology and a Graduate Diploma in Strategic Management.
Steve has travelled to many countries around the world providing consultancy services and commissioning wastewater treatment plants. He has published peer-reviewed articles and presented at numerous waste management conferences.
Steve’s role within the company is General Manager. He oversees the day to day running of the business, ensuring the company holds to its brand promise and core values when delivering turnkey projects around New Zealand. He is passionate about industry taking responsibility for its impact on the environment we live in, while still ensuring economic growth.
Dr Matt Savage is a founding Director of Apex Environmental determined to create a company that helps industry grow sustainably while caring for the environment. Matt is a chartered chemical engineer with a PhD in Chemical & Process Engineering. Matt was awarded the inaugural CH2M Beca Young Water Professional of the Year Award in 2009. He regularly writes technical editorials for various industry magazines and journals.
Matt has 15 years international experience in the design and delivery of wastewater treatment plants across a range of industries.
Matt’s role in Apex Environmental is Business Development Manager, helping clients seeking to make sound economic sustainable business decisions. He also oversees the design team working on new wastewater treatment plants and acts in a consultancy capacity.
