Winery Trade Waste Upgrade Successfully Commissioned

01 February 2020

Apex Environmental commenced construction on a wastewater treatment plant for GisVin Ltd. in late December 2019.

Working to a tight delivery programme and put under increased pressure by the record high temperatures experienced in the Poverty Bay (bringing forward the grape harvest), construction of this plant was completed in early January with commissioning taking place in early February 2020.

GisVin is an independent winery service provider who manufactures wine under contract, producing some of New Zealand’s finest wines and working for some of the world’s best-known brands.

Over the past few weeks, as the site has begun receiving and processing grapes, the client has observed the plant consistently discharge wastewater within their trade waste consent limits. The plant is designed to capture both coarse and fine solids to reduce total suspended solids levels, as well as buffer flows and neutralise the pH.

With the plant functionally complete and treating wastewater, Apex will make a final visit to the site in March as the site reaches peak production to ensure the plant is tuned and operating well before handing over the project files and completing the project.
