In a continuing push to become the most sustainable winery in New Zealand, Yealands has installed the largest MBR winery wastewater recycling plant in the country.     We have recently commissioned the largest membrane bioreactor wastewater treatment plant for a winery in New Zealand.  This is the latest in a number of sustainability initiatives completed by Yealands Estate in Marlborough.  With a current capacity of 600m3/day and with room for expansion, the system was successfully completed by Apex while still maintaining the operation of the existing wastewater treatment plant.  The level of quality achieved by the MBR means wastewater can be disposed of via the under-vine dripper irrigation system, ensuring consent compliance by spreading the wastewater as far as possible.  It also allows for alternative means of discharge, such as into water, and the ability to reuse the wastewater with minimal further treatment. Yealands Estate has an enviable reputation for innovation and sustainability within the New Zealand wine industry and we are thrilled to have completed another project for them.
