Plant expansion at Warkworth
With the Warkworth region undergoing rapid growth, Apex Water was engaged in an expansion project at the wastewater treatment plant. The project called for an MBR process that treated a side stream from the main wastewater plant to very stringent standards but had to maintain a degree of portability. Four standard 40-foot shipping containers were converted to tanks and lined with fibreglass to ensure 100% waterproofing. The membrane systems, plants rooms, and all controls were housed within the shipping containers.
Since the completion of commissioning, the quality of the effluent being discharged to the environment has consistently been of a very high quality, with particularly low total nitrogen, (<3mg/l) and practically zero organics and total solids.
