Motueka Water Treatment Plant Commissioned

26 June 2022

The new Motueka water treatment plant has been commissioned by Apex and successfully passed its performance tests.

Owned by the Tasman District Council, the plant will provide water compliant with the New Zealand drinking water standards to households in Motueka, north west of Nelson.

"The project was completed by our project delivery team, with commissioning assistance from our servicing team, and the challenges of COVID disruptions were successfully navigated."

The project involved construction of a treatment plant on a greenfield site for the water supply from three medium depth bores on the site.

Housed in a new building, the treatment process includes cartridge filtration (Apex high flow validated filters), UV disinfection, chlorine disinfection and a treated water storage tank farm.

Measures to mitigate noise, including an acoustic fence, were implemented due to the plant being located in an urban environment.
